COFDM Repeater with 1 TX and 2 RX Diversity

Overview

The Customized COFDM Repeater System is designed to extend wireless communication coverage and improve video transmission reliability in challenging environments. Featuring a 1-transmitter and 2-receiver (1TX/2RX) architecture, this system uses receiver diversity to help reduce multipath fading and maintain a more stable wireless link.

With an integrated RF block downconverter (BDC), the repeater can convert an incoming signal from one frequency band to another according to the configured frequency plan. It is suitable for long-range wireless video transmission, UAV communication links, and applications where terrain or obstacles make direct communication difficult.

Key Features

• 1 TX / 2 RX Diversity Architecture: Two receiving channels support diversity reception for improved signal stability.
• Integrated RF Frequency Conversion: Built-in block downconverter supports configured frequency conversion.
• Extended Communication Coverage: Designed to relay wireless signals over longer distances.
• Non-Line-of-Sight Support: Helps extend connectivity in environments with obstacles and challenging propagation conditions.
• Configurable RF Output Power: Available 2 W, 5 W, and 10 W options, subject to the final configuration.
• Customized Frequency Plan: RF frequencies can be tailored to the compatible transmitter and receiver system.
• Compact Design: Suitable for integration into portable and field-deployed communication systems.
• External RF Filtering Option: A suitable band-pass filter can help reduce unwanted signals and harmonic interference.

System Architecture

1. Signal Reception
The repeater receives the incoming wireless signal through two receiving antennas. The dual-RX diversity configuration helps improve reception in multipath environments.

2. Frequency Conversion
An integrated RF block downconverter converts the incoming signal to the configured intermediate or output frequency band.

3. Signal Retransmission
The system retransmits the signal through its configured transmit channel to extend coverage toward the next receiving point.

RF Band-Pass Filter Recommendations

When two wireless links operate in the same installation, unwanted RF signals, harmonics, or transmitter leakage may affect reception. An external band-pass filter may be installed in the appropriate RF path to improve filtering performance.

Filter frequency and bandwidth should be selected according to the final system configuration. The filter is typically a separate passive component and may not be included with the repeater unless specified in the order.

FAQ

Q1: What does 1TX/2RX mean?
A: The system has one transmit channel and two receive channels. The two receivers support diversity reception to help improve signal stability.

Q2: Can the repeater extend wireless video transmission range?
A: It is designed to relay signals and extend coverage. Actual range depends on antenna gain and placement, output power, receiver sensitivity, terrain, interference, and the overall link configuration.

Q3: Does the repeater support frequency conversion?
A: Yes. The published example configuration includes an RF block downconverter. The required input and output frequencies must be confirmed before ordering.

Q4: What RF output power is available?
A: The manufacturer lists configurable 2 W, 5 W, and 10 W options. Availability depends on the selected frequency and final hardware configuration.

Q5: Is the repeater suitable for non-line-of-sight applications?
A: It is designed to help maintain communication in challenging environments. Performance depends on the obstacles, propagation conditions, antennas, and system settings; uninterrupted non-line-of-sight operation cannot be guaranteed.

Q6: Is an external band-pass filter required?
A: Not in every installation. A suitable external filter is recommended when needed to reduce interference, unwanted emissions, or harmonics.

Q7: Can the frequencies be customized?
A: Yes. The system is designed for customized frequency plans. Please provide your existing transmitter and receiver frequencies before requesting a quotation.

Q8: What information should I provide when ordering?
A: Please provide the input frequency, desired output frequency, RF output power, signal bandwidth, existing transmitter and receiver models, antenna specifications, and intended application.
