Dual-Band RF Design

The PA2266 integrates two RF frequency ranges into one power amplifier module.

Frequency Band 1

566–678MHz

Frequency Band 2

1420–1530MHz

This dual-band architecture is designed for compatible RF communication systems that need to operate across both frequency ranges without using separate single-band amplifier boards.

5W RF Output

The amplifier accepts approximately 23dBm RF input power and increases the RF power to up to 5W.

Parameter Value
RF Input Power 23 ± 2dBm
RF Output Power 5W / 37dBm
TX Gain 15dB ± 1.5dB
RX Gain 18dB ± 2dB

When paired with the compatible IP Mesh MANET transceiver module, the expected transmit output is approximately 37–39dBm, depending on the actual system configuration.

Designed for IP Mesh MANET Modules

The PA2266 is optimized for use with compatible IP Mesh MANET transceiver modules.

The RF input is designed for approximately 23 ± 2dBm input power.

Typical connection:

IP Mesh MANET Transceiver RF OUT → U.FL/IPEX → PA2266 RF IN → PA2266 RF OUT → Antenna

For other RF transceiver modules, please contact us for compatibility evaluation before ordering.

Automatic TX/RX Switching

The amplifier supports automatic switching between transmit and receive modes through an external control signal.

TX Mode

A high-level control signal of approximately 1.8–3.3V places the amplifier into transmit amplification mode.

RX Mode

A low-level control signal switches the amplifier to receive mode.

The control interface is designed for integration with the compatible IP Mesh MANET transceiver module.

Power Supply

The PA2266 requires a DC power supply between 24V and 30V.

Recommended configuration:

  • Recommended voltage: 28V DC

  • Peak current capability: ≥1.5A

  • TX power consumption: ≤0.75A @ 28V

  • RX power consumption: ≤0.25A @ 28V

The external power supply should be selected according to the actual operating conditions and system requirements.

Compact OEM PCB Design

The PA2266 is supplied as an OEM RF amplifier PCB rather than a finished enclosure product.

Dimensions:

  • PCB size: 80.7 × 40.6mm

  • PCB thickness: 1mm

  • Weight: approximately 11g

The compact PCB format allows system manufacturers to integrate the amplifier into their own wireless communication terminals, enclosures and equipment.

RF Interface

RF Input

The RF input uses a U.FL / IPEX connector.

It connects to the RF output of a compatible IP Mesh MANET transceiver module.

RF Output

The amplified RF output is connected to the antenna system.

The RF output uses a solder bonding pad and should be connected securely to the appropriate antenna connector and RF transmission line.

Thermal Management

Proper thermal management is important when operating the amplifier continuously at high RF power.

For reliable operation, we recommend:

  • Installing the PA inside a suitable metal housing

  • Providing a dedicated RF amplifier compartment

  • Mounting the rear side of the PCB against a conductive metal heat-dissipation plate

  • Maintaining approximately 8mm clearance between the PCB and the upper cover

  • Using an aluminum heat sink when necessary

  • Adding forced-air cooling when required by the operating conditions

The metal mounting structure can provide both heat dissipation and electrical grounding.

The amplifier's thermal performance depends on the effectiveness of the final equipment's heat dissipation design.

Typical Applications

The PA2266 can be integrated into compatible RF communication equipment for applications such as:

  • IP Mesh MANET communication

  • Mobile ad-hoc networks

  • Industrial wireless communication

  • Robotics communication systems

  • Remote monitoring systems

  • Emergency communication equipment

  • Field communication terminals

  • Customized wireless communication terminals

  • OEM RF communication equipment

The suitability of the amplifier depends on the local radio regulations, operating frequency, system design and intended application.

Example System Configuration

A typical compatible system can include:

  1. IP Mesh MANET transceiver module

  2. PA2266 dual-band RF power amplifier

  3. Dual-band antenna

  4. Appropriate DC power supply

  5. RF cables and connectors

The PA2266 is installed between the transceiver's RF output and the antenna system.

For a multi-node network, each node can be equipped with a compatible transceiver and PA module according to the required frequency configuration.
