Low Latency SDI AHD CVBS to IP Video Encoder

The Vcan1731 is a compact H.264/H.265 video encoder designed to convert SDI, AHD, or CVBS video into IP video streams for real-time transmission, monitoring, recording, and embedded video systems.

It supports up to 1080p60 video input and provides Ethernet streaming through RTSP and UDP TS. The encoder also supports audio transmission, UART data over IP, configurable video bitrate, and web-based configuration.

With its small PCB design and 7–24V DC power input, the Vcan1731 is suitable for industrial equipment, robotics, surveillance systems, wireless video links, live video streaming, and embedded IP video applications.

Key Features

  • H.264 / H.265 hardware video encoding

  • SDI, AHD and CVBS video input

  • Supports up to 1080p60 video

  • RTSP and UDP TS network streaming

  • RTSP + UDP simultaneous output

  • Low-latency H.264 encoding mode

  • Audio encoding and transmission

  • AAC stereo audio, 16-bit / 32 Kbps

  • One-channel UART data transmission over IP

  • Adjustable video bitrate through Web UI or UART

  • Web-based configuration and management

  • 7–24V DC power input

  • Compact 70 × 45 mm PCB

  • Only about 18.6 g

  • Optional dual-input firmware for SDI + AHD/CVBS

  • Suitable for embedded system integration

Video Input

The encoder supports multiple video input formats:

  • SDI via MMCX connector

  • AHD via PH1.25 connector

  • CVBS via PH1.25 connector

  • Automatic input detection or software-controlled switching

Supported video formats include:

  • 1080p60 / 50 / 30 / 25 / 24

  • 720p60 / 50 / 30

  • AHD 1080p30 / 1080p25

  • NTSC 720×480 @ 60i

  • PAL 720×576 @ 50i

IP Video Streaming

The Vcan1731 can transmit encoded video through Ethernet using:

  • RTSP

  • UDP TS

  • RTSP + UDP TS

It can be integrated with IP video systems, network video receivers, wireless communication equipment, and third-party video software.

For standard MPEG-TS UDP streaming, the encoder can be used with common software such as VLC and GStreamer.

A proprietary low-latency firmware version is also available for applications requiring lower latency and dual video input capability.

Low Latency

The encoder provides a low-latency H.264 mode optimized for real-time video transmission.

Typical latency:

  • H.264 low-latency mode: approximately 80–150 ms with a compatible decoder

  • H.265: approximately 200–250 ms with a compatible decoder

Actual latency depends on the encoder, decoder, network, video settings, and transmission system.

Audio and UART Data

The Vcan1731 supports audio encoding and one-channel UART data transmission.

Audio:

  • AAC encoding

  • Stereo

  • 16-bit

  • 32 Kbps

UART data can be encapsulated into the IP video stream for applications such as telemetry, sensor data, control data, and embedded communication systems.

Network Configuration

The encoder provides a Web UI for configuration of:

  • Video input

  • Resolution

  • H.264 / H.265 encoding

  • Video bitrate

  • RTSP settings

  • UDP settings

  • Network parameters

  • Other encoder parameters

The default management IP address is 192.168.1.30.
